What are the most radioactive smartphones on the market?

A German study tells us

The explosion of smartphones and the increasingly frequent use we make of them may not be so beneficial to our health. Recent research shows that a large number of smartphones have risky quantities of radioactive emissions compared to the standards imposed by the European Union. Below is the ranking of the 15 smartphones with the highest radiation level (in watts per kilogram).

Xiaomi Mi A1 - 1.75
OnePlus 5T - 1.68
Huawei Mate 9 - 1.64
Huawei P9 Plus - 1.48
Huawei GX8 - 1.44
Huawei P9 - 1.43
Huawei Nova Plus - 1.41
OnePlus 5 - 1.39
Huawei P9 Lite - 1.38
iPhone 7 - 1.38
Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact - 1.36
OnePlus 6 - 1.33
iPhone 8 - 1.32
Xiaomi Redmi Notes 5 - 1.29
ZTE AXON 7 mini - 1.29

Most of the devices mentioned are Chinese , and the motivation lies in the difference in regulations compared to the EU. Below, instead, less radioactive smartphones always in terms of watts per kilogram.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 - 0.17
ZTE Axon Elite - 0.17
LG G7 - 0.24
Google Pixel XL - 0.25

The German Research Institute Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz explains that high-frequency electromagnetic fields used to transmit voice or data are transmitted directly into our body. For example, if you carry your cell phone in your pants or shirt pocket and use a headset to make a call, the energy is absorbed by the part of the body near which the phone is located mobile phone.

Fortunately the International Commission for the Protection against Non-Ionizing Radiation establishes that the specific absorption value (SAR) emitted should not exceed 2 watts per kilogram . This means that on the card no smartphone in circulation is outlawed but if we take for example the Xiaomi Mi A1 with its 1.75 SAR, we go dangerously close to the maximum allowed threshold.

So if you're worried about your health, then, we recommend choosing manufacturers like Samsung, Google, LG and Motorola . It is also recommended to use the speakerphone or earphones when telephoning, Wi-Fi whenever possible as it emits less radiation and avoids keeping the device in direct contact with the body for long periods of time.
