Five municipalities covered
5G is finally a reality in Italy too. Vodafone has indeed announced the arrival of the new network for private and corporate use, which will cover the municipalities of Milan (and hinterland), Rome, Turin, Bologna and Naples. It will be possible to use the network with devices that support 5G, including Samsung, Xiaomi and LG smartphones.
There are currently two offers, one consumer and one business. The first has an additional cost of € 5 per month for those who do not have a RED Unlimited Smart and Black, Shake it easy and One Pro plan. The second will cost € 5 more per month for RED users, while it will be free for owners of Black.
It is not yet clear what the actual speed / latency of the network is, nor what its impact on the autonomy of connected mobile devices. However, Vodafone has promised that by 2021 the municipalities covered by the band will be around 100, so we will be able to see first-hand in reasonable times.
